Cestria Christmas Lunch Run

Sunday 6th December saw the annual Christmas Lunch Run for Cestria CC.  A fifty strong group turned out at the Market Place in Chester-le-Street for the start, this was then split between those taking a road route and a group travelling up the lines.

Unusually the weather was quite mild and dry – a change from the usual blizzard conditions that usually strike on the day of the Christmas outing.

However, the tradition of punctures and other mechanicals was on a par with previous years, with a broken chain, several punctures and snapped seatpost causing a few pauses along the way.

The groups met up at Hownsgill Cafe for a half way coffee, and then onto the Black Horse at Beamish for a very tasty lunch and a chance to catch up with friends.  Whilst some toddled off home afterwards, the regular hardy souls went on the usual tour of the local establishments.

Massive thanks to Terry Ottaway for organising lunch, and Peter Scott for Photographs.
